Thai Foot Massage
Is a
relatively new concept in the UK but has been practiced for hundreds
of years in various forms, both in Thailand and beyond. It is
believed to have originated over 2000 years ago, and has roots in
India, Korea, Japan & China.
Over
time it has become an integral part of traditional Thai Culture, and
can be experienced throughout Thailand, being performed by many street
vendors. Traditionally it was practised in the temples, nowadays it
can be experienced in, temples, spas, on the beach or in the street.
It
consists of working on the feet & lower part of the legs, and is
performed with a Thai foot stick. The treatment is both relaxing and
invigorating and has the aim of balancing the body and encouraging
good health.
Thai
foot massage integrates warm up techniques, massage of the feet and
legs, stimulation of reflex points, working the SEN lines (energy
channels) thought the body. Wrapping the feet and legs and
stretching. There are elements of Reflexology, Shiatsu, Yoga and
Chinese massage within the therapy, however, despite these
similarities; the treatment itself stands alone as benefiting the
whole body, mind and spirit.
It
